María José has more than 12 years of experience in the Labor and Litigation Departments. Her area of practice involves labor and social security matters of national and multinational organizations including the representation of clients in litigation proceedings before labor courts as well as collective bargaining, collective disputes and negotiation of working conditions and wages in the Council of Wages.
She also performs labor audits in mergers and acquisitions of companies. She actively advises and participates in outsourcing negotiation, as well as hiring of employees and wage policies. María José was recognized by prestigious international legal publications such as “Chambers & Partners” and “Legal 500”.
Represents and provides regular labor and social security advice to companies of different areas of activities: L´Oréal Uruguay, Roche, Compañía Salus, Fenedur, Río Estiba, among others.
She represents the Instituto Botánico La Selva and the companies that currently operate Carrasco Airport, Laguna del Sauce Airport and Terminal de Cargas in negotiations before the Council of Wages and provides recurrent labor and social security advice.
She is Assistant Professor of Labor Law and Social Security, School of Law, University of Uruguay and has participated in national and international congresses and seminars as official and volunteer speaker on topics of her area expertise.
María José is an active member of the Labour Law and Social Security Institute, School of Law, University of Uruguay. She is also member of the Asociación Uruguaya del Derecho del Trabajo y la Seguridad Social (AUDTSS) and representative for Uruguay of the Sub Section of Young Jurists.
She is founding member of the Study Groups about labor issues “La Ventana”.
She has postgraduate studies in Labor and Social Security Law at the Postgraduate School of the School of Law, University of Uruguay.
In 2004 she obtained the Title of “Master in Law with Specialization in Labor Law” – Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economy (ISDE) of Barcelona and in 2019 she participated in the “Specialization Course for Latin American Experts in Labor Relations” held at the Universidad de Castilla La Mancha, Toledo (Spain)
María José has published several articles and papers on her area expertise.
