Santiago is a lawyer of the Labor and Litigation Departments of Guyer & Regules since 2009. His practice focuses on employment and social security advising to national and foreign enterprises, advising and negotiating outsourcing contracts, hiring of employees, salary policies, specific benefits for the different sectors of activity, amongst other activities. Additionally, he represents clients in labor proceedings before Courts, as well as during collective bargaining, collective conflicts and before the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

He graduated from Universidad de la República in 2009. Currenlty is Professor in charge of Social Security and of Labor Credits Calculation at the Facultad de Ciencias Empresariales de la Universidad Católica del Uruguay and Assistant Professor in the Chair of Labor Law I and II (Universidad de Montevideo). He is currently ending a Master in Business Law in the Universidad de Montevideo.

He was recognized by international legal publications “Chambers & Partners” and “Legal 500” for his performance in the Labor Department. 

Work highlights

  • He advised Mexican bottling company Coca-Cola Femsa acquisition of the Uruguayan subsidiary of The Coca-Cola Company regarding labor matters, playing a key role in the due diligence process considering that employment aspects were critical to the acquisition.

  • He represented GNLS in more than 100 claims representing approximately USD 3,000,000 being the last cases resolved in 2018 without any liability to GNLS
