Federico Carbajales, lawyer, develops his activities mainly in the Litigation and Arbitration department. His practice includes advice on negotiations and disputes in civil, commercial and administrative matters, assisting high profile clients from the most different sectors, such as Montes del Plata, Philip Morris International, Coca Cola, Itaú Bank, English Store, GEA, Mercado Libre, Mega Pharma, CMPC Tissue, Homecenter Sodimac, Sherwin Williams, Plastipac or Cofco Group.
In this regard, it has been recognized by the prestigious international publication Legal 500 for its outstanding performance in the area of litigation and arbitration.
He specializes in construction law and has extensive experience in infrastructure and construction projects assisting both contractors and subcontractors, as well as project owners and developers, being one of the leaders of these issues within G&R.
He has been the first Uruguayan assistant to the Construction Law Summer School at the University of Cambridge. He has also participated in other industry events such as the Biennial Conference organized by the Society of Construction Law or the International Construction Law Congress organized by the Universidad de los Andes. He is, in turn, the representative of G&R in Construlegal, an alliance of legal studies throughout America specializing in construction law.
It is recognized for its rigor in the negotiation, drafting and analysis of contracts and complex claims. He is also recognized in his accompaniment to the administrators of contracts in projects as well as in the elaboration of strategies for the preparation or defense of disputes.
Its intervention also stands out in matters related to the promotion and defense of competition, especially in investigations or procedures initiated by the authority for anti-competitive behaviors or practices. It also actively collaborates with the remaining areas of G&R designing solutions for clients in conflict prevention or in their best positioning in litigation.
Advised Montes del Plata, a joint venture between Chilean Arauco and Swedish-Finnish Stora Enso, during the entire construction phase for the installation of its pulp mill in Punta Pereira, the largest private investment in the history of Uruguay until the moment.
Advises construction companies that are awarded public private participation contracts (PPP) for the design, financing, construction and operation of educational or road infrastructure works • Regularly advises contractors and subcontractors as well as owners and developers of projects in the industrial, commercial and real estate sector.
Advised Rouar, a company formed by state power companies UTE and Eletrobras, in negotiations that led to an agreement with a Hindu wind company in charge of the construction of its wind farm.
Advised GEA, a German food technology company, in the drafting of the supply, assembly and commissioning contract concluded with the largest dairy producer in Uruguay that will lead to the expansion of the latter's dairy plant. He is a member of G&R since 2008 and graduated from the University of the Republic in 2009. He is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and the World League Group (WLG).
