Anabela Aldaz, lawyer, specialized in Environmental Law and head of the Environmental Department, participates actively in the following Organizations: Regulatory and Environmental Commission of the Law School of Uruguay, Lex- Mundi Environmental Group. RIELA (Interamerican Network specialized in Environmental Legislation), World Services Group Environmental Group.

She has vast experience in Environmental Regulations, also has participated in the setting up proceedings, acquisitions and transformations of Uruguayan industries, in areas such as Chemical Industries, Pharmaceutics, food, Pharma-veterinary, meat packing company, agro and energy.

Leads Due Diligence processes in the areas of her specialty.  Pioneer in Uruguay in providing environmental legal monitor service provided in international certification standards.

Work highlights

  • Advised Japanese wind farm developer Eurus Energy purchase a stake in the subsidiary. This is the second time Eurus has invested in one of Akuo’s Uruguayan wind farms. French renewables company Akuo and its Uruguayan subsidiary Glymont obtained a US$ 82 million loan to finance construction of a wind farm in southern Uruguay.

  • Advised SolarPack in the sale of a solar plant in Uruguay to Sun Edison.

  • Assisted Danish seed company DLF enter Uruguay by acquiring a majority stake in Uruguayan counterpart Estero.

  • Assisted Uruguayan pharmaceuticals company Spefar on its sale to Argentine counterpart Roemmers.

  • Advised Coca Cola FEMSA, S.A.in due diligence and purchase of the total assets of Montevideo Refrescos S.A., sole bottler of Coca Cola de Uruguay.

  • Assisted Bacardi-Martini, the largest privately held, family-owned spirits company in the world, in the sale of Bacardi-Martini Uruguay to a Cepas Group subsidiary.

  • Advised Chilean private equity fund Linzor Capital Partners in the purchase of 85% of Uruguayan frozen foods company Pagnifique. The deal also involved the purchase of a US subsidiary that owns a frozen food plant in the State of Florida.

  • Advised supermarket chain Multiahorro on the sale to Ta-Ta, which acquired 100% of the supermarket chain.

  • Advised Casino Guichard Perrachon and Almacenes Exito as Exito bought stakes in supermarket chains Libertador and Pão de Açucar from Casino, as well as the purchase of Disco and Devoto, both supermarket chains.

  • Assisted Sodimac (an affiliate of Chile’s giant Falabella) with the disembark in Uruguay and the purchase of plots of land and properties on which to build their stores in Montevideo.

Beauty and Pharmaceutical

  • Advised Efice Cloro in the acquisition of Quimica Gamma.

  • Advised Hal Investments on the purchase of 100% of the shares issued by Tylor, owner of an optical store chain in Uruguay known as "Optica Lux", by signing a contract for the sale of shares.

  • Advised Grupo Eurnekian on the sale of San Roque, a Uruguayan drugstore and cosmetics chain. The buyer was Clayton Inc..

  • Advised the Brazilian pharmaceutical company Eurofarma in the acquisition of a majority stake in Uruguayan Gautier laboratories, with an agreement to acquire the remaining minority interest in the next two years.
