Guyer & RegulesEstablished market leader

Probably the most established corporate firm in Montevideo, bringing a blend of experience and a modern approach -notably through substantial investment in leading-edge technology- to an impressive client list heavy with banking clients and multinational corporate clients. Nicolás Herrera remains the firm’s most prominent name, alongside with Álvaro Tarabal, with regular mentions for Nicolás Piaggio, who joined the partnership in 2004 along with Diego Licio. One important banking client described Guyer’s lawyers as “outstanding professionals, who understand our business and our legal environment”. Like most firms in Montevideo, Guyer also employs a number of notaries and accountants. 2004 saw the firm heavily involved in trust structures following the enactment in late 2003 of the Trust Law, notably as part of a multinational team advising one of the country’s leading banks. Other INTERNATIONAL PUBLICATIONS included mergers industry, work on the concession to run Montevideo’s airport and M&A work in telecoms, while the arbitration and litigation departments have also been kept busy, notably in defence of an international ratings agency facing litigation in Uruguay. A high proportion of Guyer´s lawyers have worked or studied abroad, in comparison to the other Uruguayan firms on this list. The firm is a member of the Club de Abogados, the Lex Mundi network and Multilaw.
